Course objectives
Students will learn the fundations of controlling and bases of strategic and operational controlling applied to marketing, sales, quality, innovation, finances and personnel management. The course also outlines what knowledge, qualities and competencies ofcontrolling managers. Special attention will be paid to company budgetting and main controlling activities during the project. Theory will be enhanced with real life examples. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to describe fundamental business processes in strategic and operational controlling.

Teaching methods
Lectures in full-time study, tutorials in part-time study; with respect to demanding character of the course it is expected presence at lessons of 50 %, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study. Lectures will be based on presentations of individual topics by the lecturer with the possibility of a discussion.
Assessment methods
Credit (zápočet) = qualification for admition to the exam:
1) Attend 50% or more classes (if not able to contact your teacher; you will be given a special assignment).
2) Submit a seminar paper. Topic: Definition of controlling and characteristics of strategic and operational controlling. Two pages of text excluding the cover page and literature (500 words) due Apr 14 via email in the form of MS Word document.

Exam: oral interview covering topics in the textbook and topics discussed during classes. There might be offered a written pre-term exam accessible to the sutdents who fulfill the attendance and seminar paper requirements before the last lecture.
