Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the tasks and roles of top managers who are responsible for the decision-making process in the company management process. Students will be familiarized and learn what are the bases for strategic and operative management applicable to marketing, sales, innovation, finances and personnel management. Emphasis will be mostly put on the work of top managers working for particular company departments. Students will learn what knowledge, qualities and competencies these managers should possess. Special attention will be paid to their role during controlling activities and during company crisis management. Theoretical learning will be added with real examples from real life. The role of managers in the company management process shall also serve as repeating exercises focusing on important subjects of the BMCF field. Students may use this course as preparation for the relevant state exam. The subject shall also be viewed as the necessary base for students who will continue with the MBA studies.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to understand and explain the specifics and key concepts of team work, the principles of team selection and leadership, team issues as one of the basic units of work organization in modern management, and enable understanding of the functioning and influence of team performance, motivation of individual roles, consequences of group thinking and its influence on the effectiveness of the whole team. The audience will have the chance to verify their own assumptions and tendencies for a particular role in the team, both from the perspective of the team leader and the role of the team member in a particular role.

1. Managers, skills, qualification, management development, talent management. 2. The career ladder, problems at work. 3. Basic principles of balanced leadership, management styles, self-management. Personal development plan. 4. Managerial Skills Development – Time Management, Active Listening, Dialogue Management, Delegation and Feedback. 5. Business ethic, corporate social responsibility, wrongdoing and corruption. 6. Role managers in planning and organizing. 7. Role managers in employee motivation and remuneration, control activities. 8. Role of managers in strategic and operational management, controlling. 9. Role of managers in marketing and sales management and international marketing. 10. Role of managers in innovation and quality management. 11. Role of managers in financial and crisis management. 12. Teaching methods
Lectures in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
The study will be performed in a form of lecturers, where the theory will be added with practical examples and real life experiences. Based on these practical examples, the student will be able to imagine and understand the factual role of top managers necessary during crisis management. The course is completed with a verbal interview/exam. The so-called individual topics will be included in the final exam. Assessment methods
The course is completed with: 1) seminar paper (digital application, word) and 2) verbal interview/exam, two questions OR presentation of digital application.The so-called individual topics will be included in the final exam. CSP students only - intermediate tasks, see IS CSP student requirements. Without the completion of intermediate tasks (this is for CPS students only due to their absence in courses, where other students work on current issue), seminar paper and verbal exam or presentation (digital application) the subject can not be successfully completed. Will not be accepted late attendance and activities in the course of the course, devices (tablets, phones, etc.) that are not directly related to learning.
