The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with theoretical regional issues of crime in the Czech Republic and individual theories explaining the regional differentiation of crime levels. At the same time, the aim of the course is to teach students to prepare an elementary regional analysis and a regional profile of a municipality, city (part of a city), microregion and region in relation to crime, in the form of a draft chapter of a strategic plan for the development of a municipality, city, region - Security and crime.
Learning outcomes
The student will get a general overview of regional issues of crime in the Czech Republic and, above all, of individual theories dealing with the regional differentiation of the level of crime. At the same time, he will be able to process the regional profile of the municipality, city (part of the city), microregion and regions in relation to crime, in the form of a draft chapter of the strategic development plan of the municipality, city, region - Security and crime.

  • 1. Clear review of basic terms and theories related to crime in the regions listed in the subject Crime in the Regions 1. 2. Theory explaining the regional differentiation of the level of crime. 3. Theory of social disorganization. 4. Theory of routine activities. 5. Geometric theory. 6. Theory of crime patterns. 7. Theory of defensible space. 8. Broken windows theory. 9. Regional analysis 1. Demographic profile of the municipality, city (part of the city) microregion and region in relation to crime. 10. Regional analysis 2. Geographical profile of the municipality, city (part of the city) microregion and region in relation to crime. 11. Strategic plan for the development of the municipality, city, region. Structure of strategic plans. 12. Draft strategic plan chapter - Security and crime.
