Course objectives
Business management encompasses all activities ranging from setting up the entire management system, values and business rules, organizational structures, strategic coordination and strategic management to day-to-day operations and performance. It is a cross-sectional area, it uses methods of strategic management, methods of quality and efficiency management, excellence and others. In this course the students will build on the knowledge gained in the Managerial minima and will get acquainted with the basic processes of company management in its organizational units. Particular attention will be given to the role of managers, their competencies and responsibilities in the management of key corporate activities. The lectures will be completed by a list of prerequisites for the managerial work of the relevant section of the company. Teaching methods
Teaching in full-time form of study will be based on interactive lectures, in which the theory will be supplemented by practical examples, on the basis of which the student will create an idea of ​​the actual role of business management for its successful development. Part of the lectures will be discussions on the topic, group work, etc. Teaching in the combined study will take the form of controlled consultation. It assumes continuous preparation of students for guided group consultations, where the emphasis will be on practical applications with the aim of optimal use of the knowledge of the given subject in business practice. Minimum compulsory attendance in full-time study is 75%, combined form of study and ISP students 50%. If the minimum attendance is not met, the student will prepare an extra seminar work. The student will consult the topic of the work in advance with the teacher who will approve it. The scope of work will be at least 3-4 pages of text in the BP template. At least 3 sources from the ProQuest database (available from IS) will be cited in this work.
Assessment methods
Students will be assigned a research project (seminar work on two forms) at the beginning of the course (about two thirds of the lessons). A detailed assignment of the semester work (two forms) will be published in the study materials of the course. The teacher determines the date of submission of the work (eg the last exercise in full-time study or according to the schedule of combined study) and the date by which it will provide feedback to students. Students who submit their work after the deadline will be penalized by deducting 50% of the total score. Maximum number of points earned for semester work = 60 points Minimum number of points for credit = 60 points. Students who submit the perfect semestral work will be given credit. Other students will pass a credit test (oral / written form - determined by the teacher / instructor). During the exam students answer 4 questions. 10 points each. The total number of points for awarding the credit must be at least 60 points for research work and exam. The purpose of the course is to understand the theoretical knowledge and the ability to use it in practice. The seminar work and the credit test are directed towards this.

Teaching methods
Teaching in full-time form of study will be based on interactive lectures in which the theory will be supplemented by practical examples on the basis of which the student will create an idea of ​​the factual role of company management for its successful development. Lectures will include discussions on the topic, group work, etc. The assignment of tasks for home preparation for the next lessons will also be part of the lectures. Combined study will take place in the form of a controlled consultation. It assumes continuous preparation of students for managed group consultations, which will focus on practical applications aiming at optimal use of knowledge from the subject in the company practice. Minimum attendance in full-time teaching is 75%, combined form of study and ISP students 50%. If the minimum attendance is not met, then the student will prepare extra seminar work. The topic of the student's paper will be consulted with the teacher who agrees. The scope of paper will be minimum 3-4 pages of the text Times New Roman 11, spacing 1.15. At least 3 sources from the ProQuest database (available from the IS) will be cited in the paper.
Assessment methods
In middle of course students will receive a research project (seminar paper), which will analyse the way how is the SME managed. This research will be focused on management style, basic performance ratios and the student´s ability to analysis process, define problems and offer solutions. The detailed assignment of the research project will be published in the study materials on IS in middle of course. The student has the possibility to consult the research with a teacher who will provide feedback on request. The teacher determines the date of submission of the research and the date by which it will provide feedback to the students. Students who post the research after the deadline will be penalized by - 50% of the total points score. Maximum points earned for research work SME = 60 points. Minimum points for obtaining credit = 60 points. Students who submit a perfect research work will receive a credit. Other students will pass the exam. The form of the exam (oral, written) is determined by the teacher. During the exam students will answer 4 questions. Every for 10 points. The total sum of points for obtaining the credit must be at least 60 points for the research work and the exam together. The aim of the course is to understand the theoretical knowledge and the ability to use it in practice. This is the aim of the research seminar paper and the exam.

Students will learn what knowledge, qualities and competencies the managers of the particular departments should possess. Special attention will be paid to their role during controlling activities and during company crisis management. Theoretical learning will be added with real examples from real life. Lectures in full-time study, tutorials in part-time study; with respect to demanding character of the course it is expected presence at lessons (ca. 50 %), compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study. In full-time study, every topic will be covered by a lectures. Lectures will be based on presentations of individual topics by the lecturer followed by a discussion.

Students will be familiarized and learn what are the bases for strategic and operative management applicable to marketing and sales (A1), quality, innovation, finances and personnel management (A2). Students will learn what knowledge, qualities and competencies the managers of the particular departments should possess. Special attention will be paid to their role during controlling activities and during company crisis management. Theoretical learning will be added with real examples from real life. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to describe fundamental business processes based on strategic and operational management and controlling.

Course objectives (in Czech)
Cílem předmětu je seznámit posluchače se základními procesy řízení podniku, založených na teorii managementu, manažerském účetnictví a personálním řízení. Studenti se seznámí s rolí vlastníků a manažerů podniků, tvorbou střednědobých strategií a podstatou operativních řídících procesů v oblasti marketingu, obchodu a financí. Na to naváže dalším semestru RP A2) řízení, jakosti, inovací, IS/IT a personálu. S ohledem na nedávnou světovou hospodářskou krizi byly do výuky začleněny nově i kapitoly řízení rizik a podniků v restrukturalizaci. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována roli manažerů, jejich kompetencím a odpovědnostem při řízení klíčových podnikových aktivit. Každá přednáška bude zakončena výčtem předpokladů pro manažerskou práci příslušného úseku firmy.

Výuka bude probíhat na bázi přednášek, v rámci kterých bude teorie doplňována praktickými příklady, na základě kterých si posluchač vytvoří představu o faktické úloze procesního řízení podniku, založeném na interdisciplinárním pojetí.

Předmět je ukončen v ZS zápočtem formou krátkého pohovoru, v LS zkouškou, podmínky pro zakončení předmětu budou sděleny na přednáškách, hlavní pozornost při zkoušce a zápočtu bude věnována tzv. klíčovým pojmům, uvedeným v ML.

The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives (in Czech)
Cílem předmětu je seznámit posluchače se základními procesy řízení podniku, založených na teorii managementu, manažerském účetnictví a personálním řízení. Studenti se seznámí s rolí vlastníků a manažerů podniků, tvorbou střednědobých strategií a podstatou operativních řídících procesů v oblasti marketingu, obchodu a financí. Na to naváže dalším semestru RP A2) řízení, jakosti, inovací, IS/IT a personálu. S ohledem na nedávnou světovou hospodářskou krizi byly do výuky začleněny nově i kapitoly řízení rizik a podniků v restrukturalizaci. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována roli manažerů, jejich kompetencím a odpovědnostem při řízení klíčových podnikových aktivit. Každá přednáška bude zakončena výčtem předpokladů pro manažerskou práci příslušného úseku firmy.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
Výuka bude probíhat na bázi přednášek, v rámci kterých bude teorie doplňována praktickými příklady, na základě kterých si posluchač vytvoří představu o faktické úloze procesního řízení podniku, založeném na interdisciplinárním pojetí.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Předmět je ukončen v ZS zápočtem formou krátkého pohovoru, v LS zkouškou, podmínky pro zakončení předmětu budou sděleny na přednáškách, hlavní pozornost při zkoušce a zápočtu bude věnována tzv. klíčovým pojmům, uvedeným v ML.
