Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic processes of business management. Students will become familiar with the role of business owners and managers, creating medium-term strategies and the nature of operational management processes in the areas of finance, quality management, innovation, IS/IT and staff. Risk management and business restructuring chapters are included in the lessons. Special attention will be paid to the role of managers, their competencies and responsibilities in managing key business activities. Each lecture will conclude with a list of prerequisites for the managerial work of the relevant section of the company. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to explain the basic business processes based on strategic and operational management in relation to the creation of financial budgets, quality management models, innovative management and management in times of crisis.
Learning outcomes
Student should be theoretically prepared to manage the company after completing this course. During the course the emphasis is on the practical verification of the acquired knowledge in practice, especially in the following disciplines: • process management, • strategic management, • marketing management, • Business management, • Financial management, • Quality management, • Innovation management, • managing a business in a crisis and restructuring it, • management and development of human resources. The course emphasizes examples of a real business management environment, then students should be ready to take up management positions in a real environment.

Teaching methods
Teaching in full-time form of study will be based on interactive lectures, within which the theory will be explained by practical examples, on the basis of which the student will create an idea of the factual role of business management for its successful development. Lectures will give discussions on the topic, group work, etc. The assignment of tasks for home preparation for the next lessons will also be part of the lectures. Combined study will take place in the form of a controlled consultation. It assumes continuous preparation of students for managed group consultations, which will focus on practical applications aiming at optimal use of knowledge from the subject in the company practice.
Assessment methods
Conditions for completion of the course: 1.Complete compulsory attendance 75% full-time study, 50% part-time study and ISP students, or elaborate alternative seminar work in the extent of at least 5 pages in the template BP. For this work the student chooses a topic and has it approved by the teacher. The condition is to use at least 3 references from the ProQuest database available for free from IS.VSFS. 2. Work out a seminar work consisting of 2 parts and a template of which will be published in the IS during the course - this work will be evaluated by a maximum of 60 points. The teacher determines deadline for seminar work. After that date, works submitted late will be penalized with a 50% deduction. 3. Take the exam - orally or in writing, according to the teacher. The exam will consist of 4 questions and each question will be evaluated by a maximum of 10 points. In total, max. 40 points. 4.Total student can get a maximum of 100 points. Rating and grading scale: A 100-93 points, B 93-85 points, C 84-77 points, D 76-69 points, E 68-60 points, F less than 60 points
