The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain the concept of democracy. V ~ will be monitored during the course content of the concept of democracy. The students will be introduced to the basic theory of democracy in   their historical perspective. These can then be integrated into the problems of modern Western states. Also will be analyzed approaches to the study of modern western democratic societies. Course and students get acquainted with all the basic concepts of democracy, to be able to distinguish   in today's world often vague concepts.

  • 9th Consensual vs. Majority Democracy (A. Lijphart)
  • 10th Hybrid forms of democracy

  • 12th Prospects and pitfalls of democracy

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study. Students who fail to meet the mandatory level of participation may be given during the semester additional study obligations (to the extent that will demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of course).
