- Course objectives
- At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain the importance and benefits of the key figures of classical sociology and listed in a separate study of their works. The course includes presentation of sociology in the context of contemporary social change, including issues relating to the status of sociology in relation to practice. (Socio-technical functions sociology).

- 1 Sociology at the turn of the 19th and 20 century - link theoretical (M. Weber, E. Durkheim, V. Pareto, H. Spencer) 2 Theory elites (from Machiavelli by W. Pareto and critical sociology W. Mills) 3 Activity as a subject of interest sociology. The emergence and development of theories of action 4 T. Parsons' theory of action. Structuralism. Structural functionalism and its critics 5 Structuration theory and A. Giddens, The Third Way 6 Systems theory (N. Luhman) 7 Conflict theory (L. Coser) 8 Empirical and neo positivism sociology (O. Neurath, P. Lazarsfeld) 9 Civilization theory, sociology of culture (N. Elias) 10 Social constructivism (Berger PL-T. - Lectures, literature study and participation in seminars
- Assessment methods
- The course is completed by a written and oral exam. The written exam consists of 2 parts that test. First knowledge of basic concepts, theories and works of individual classics (closed questions). Second Interpretation theory including placed in a broader historical and paradigmatic context (open questions). The test may consist of only those students who ab-solvovali seminary. During the final evaluation (determination of stamps) shall take into account the activity in seminars. Attendance and active participation in lectures and seminars - 30% 2 x the subject matter of the report 30% of test and written exam - 40%
