Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The student is able to work out the Assignment of the Diploma thesis (DT) and the Intention to DT, i. e. to formulate a good research question, to determine a research strategy and design, to choose research method suitable for his research. At the same time the student is acquainted with the required citation norm and the ethical principals of the academic writing.
Learning outcomes
After the passing the course, the student is able to write the Assignment of the DT and research proposal. The student is prepared to write the DT which is expected from him/her in the follow - up courses Diploma project 1-2. The students will be tought to stick to the principles of ethics and to the quality of the creative academic writing.

  • 1. Importance of DT, requirements of the professional quality of the DT 2. General structure of DT 3. Formulating and clarifying the research topic 4. Writing research proposal 5. Critically reviewing literature 6. Methods of the academic writing 7. Tools of the bachelor/master academic writing 8. The formal structure of the DT 9. Example of the DT 10. Organising the project report´s content 11. Research ethics, citation 12. Conclusion of the DT, oral presentation of the report

Teaching methods
Seminars in full-time study, tutorials in part-time study. Compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study , compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with a credit based on handing in the Assignment of the DT and text plans. The management of the faculty can set further conditions for awarding a credit. The credit can be awarded exclusively by the teacher of the subject, not by the DT supervisor.
