Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The student is able to work out the Assignment of the Diploma thesis (DT) and the Introduction to DT. The student will be ready by the end of the course to work out the DT within a subsequent subject Diploma Project 1. During the course in seminar classes students will be taught to respect author’s ethics as well as the quality of scientific and academic work.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to formulate a relevant research problem in his / her field of study, to carry out his / her own research and to compile the collected data based on the theoretical, methodological and formal requirements of the field of study. The output of the class is, under the supervision of the supervisor, to carry out independent research in a specific thematic field of the relevant field. The student will be able to prepare the final work by processing the acquired data in the form of a standard academic text, in the scope and formal standards (structure of the text, annotation, keywords, format, citations, list of used sources and bibligraphy).

  • 1. Meaning, structure, topic and rules of working out the Diploma thesis DT, Assignment of DT
  • 2. Principles and procedure of working out the introduction to DT
  • 3. Information sources, study and working with scientific and professional texts
  • 4. Methods of scientific and professional work, creating DT texts, form of DT
  • 5. Forms of DT, ethics of creative work, references and citations
  • 6. Conclusion of DT, completing and defending DT

Teaching methods
Seminars in full-time study, tutorials in part-time study. Compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study , compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with a credit based on handing in the Assignment of the DT and the basic text of the Introduction DT. The management of the faculty can set further conditions for awarding a credit. The credit can be awarded exclusively by the teacher of the subject, not by the DT supervisor.
