Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the characteristics and key concepts of teamwork, principles for the selection of team members and its leadership, team issues as one of the basic units of work organization in modern management and facilitate understanding of the functioning and influencing team performance. The course includes elements such as defining the role of motivation in the team and individual roles, the consequences of groupthink and its impact on the efficiency of the entire team. The listener gets a chance to verify their own assumptions and tendencies to a certain role in the team in terms of both team leader and team member in terms of a certain role. On the basis of studying the issue listener is able to answer questions related to the essence of teamwork, the team used and when not, what are the typical roles in the team and how best to motivate team members in these roles, how to select people to the team and lead a team to resolve conflicts in the team, including knowledge of different techniques and tools management teams.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to understand and explain after completing the subject specifics and key concepts of team work, principles of team selection and leadership, team issues as one of the core units of work organization in modern management, and enable understanding of the functioning and influence of team performance, definition of team role and motivation of individual roles, consequences of group thinking and its influence on the effectiveness of the entire team. The listener gets the chance to verify his / her own assumptions and tendencies to a certain role in the team, both from the point of view of the team leader and from the point of view of the team member in a particular role.
Syllabus
  • 1. Familiarity with the content and structure of the course, literature and the requirements for course completion. Excursion into the theory and history of management, organizational development managerial structures in its present form. 2. From the group to the team - specifics teamwork in management. Process management in a company, project problems, the team as a basis for the project. Team structure in terms of ensuring its effective operation. 3. Role in the team. Teamwork, communication within the team (team meetings). 4. Teamwork as the management of social processes. Types of teams in management practice - according to the time duration of the position of team members, according to the method of setting tasks, etc. Organizing team and teamwork. 5. Stages of team formation. Stages of formation and development team to autonomous teams. Management of teamwork - team management styles. Assessing the benefits of teamwork. 6. Conditions and factors effective functioning of the team. Rewarding teams. Resolving conflicts in the team. Technology leadership teams.

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
The full-time study - team presentation in a classroom on the subject and seminar work. In the combined study of processing credit hour seminar. Theme: leadership (on my workplace). Or Teams rolls. Term: 20.5.2022
