- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course deals with the issue of financial services and financial intermediation. The aim of the course is to explain the position and activities of sellers of financial instruments and products, the conditions of their existence and activities in the Czech Republic, the EU and in third countries. It contains both an explanation of the intermediation financial products, but also the market with investment instruments. Attention will be paid to the very position of financial intermediaries.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:- to orientate in the field of intermediary services and products on the financial markets,- be aware of proficiency tests,- apply the approach to the client in the mediation of financial products,- become familiar with the legislation of basic mediation services.
- Syllabus
- 1. Financial market, its structure and subjects, basic concepts. 2. Financial services, theoretical definition of supply and demand. 3. Consumer protection. 4. The Czech National Bank as a financial market supervisory authority. 5. Investment intermediaries and advisers. 6. Insurance intermediaries. 7. Distribution of supplementary pension savings products. 8. Consumer credit intermediaries and deposit products. 9. Securities dealers, major and additional investment services. 10. Information asymmetry, principles of portfolio diversification. 11. Psychological factors affecting the choice of financial products. 12. Possibilities of further development of financial intermediation in the conditions of the financial market of the Czech Republic, professional discussion.

- Assessment methods
- The prerequisite for taking the exam is obtaining a credit according to the requirements of the lecturer and trainer (presentation on a selected topic, preparation of an independent paper on a given topic, oral exam). Exam: oral exam from a range of selected questions and discussion of the seminar paper.
