Prerequisites
Would you like to get to know the basis of both spoken and written Chinese and penetrate into the structure of language thinking of the members of the most populous country in the world within a two- semester course? After successful passing of this course you will be able to pleasantly surprise your Chinese business partner at least.

Course objectives
Course objectives: The course objective is to get acquainted with the basic grammar rules of Chinese so that the students are able to speak about basic topics such as work, leisure time, age, family and place. The students will acquire the phonetic four tonal system of Chinese, they will learn the Chinese transcription pinyin and write correctly the Chinese characters. Besides language learning the course will also offer an insight into selected Chinese facts and ways of thinking. The course objectives also apply for part-time study.
Syllabus
  • This syllabus applies to full-time and part-time study. Content of seminars: 1 -2 pinyin (initials p, t, k, b, d, g), greetings, verb to be 3 – 4 pinyin (initials j, q, x), introduction to phonetics, 4 tones 5 – 6 pinyin (initials z, c, s, zh, ch, sh) introduction to character writing 7 – 8 pinyin (finals), topics: introductions, grammar: adjectival predicate 9 – 10 where are you from, characters: introduction to radicals 11 – 12 numerals, grammar: adverbs in the sentence 13 – 14 topic: work, grammar: numeratives 15 – 16 topic: age, negative sentence 17 – 18 grammar: verbs with prepositions, verb reduplication 19 – 20 topic: height, weight, grammar: modals 21 – 22 topic: my home, grammar: adverbs of place 23 – 24 revision

CREDIT TEST Condition for credit is achieving at least 30 points out of 50.
