V originále
Příspěvek zkoumá vývoj kurzu eura a mezinárodní postavení eura z hlediska možných krizových projevů.
In English
The paper examines the exchange rate development of the euro and the international status of the euro in terms of possible crisis manifestations. The concept of a currency crisis as a 25% depreciation of the exchange rate, or as a long-term depreciation of the exchange rate is applied in paper. The share of the euro in foreign exchange reserves, importance of the euro on the financial and foreign exchange markets, the expansion of the euro as the national currency and the use of the euro as a reference currency in the foreign exchange systems are examined. The examination concludes that none of these indicators points to a crisis of the euro. Possible future crisis of the euro may be triggered by the euro area debt crisis, if it leads to sufficiently strong fundamental causes of investors’ distrust.
