Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Students will get familiar with basic principles of knowledge-based systems with main focus on rule-based expert systems of the first generation.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- assess application areas of expert systems,
- describe the architecture and functionality of expert systems,
- design applications of rule-based expert systems.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- explain basic principles of expert systems
- explain knowledge reprezentation methods used in expert systems
- explain methods of inference used in expert systems
- assess the suitability of expert system application for a given area
- design and implement knowledge base for a given task

Assessment methods
The course ends with credit.
CREDIT is awarded for active work and creating your own knowledge base with documentation. The entry is in the VŠFS IS: https://is.vsfs.cz/auth/el/vsfs/leto2024/B_ES/um/
At the same time, the granting of credit is tied to the fulfillment of the obligation of active attendance (min. 75% in the face-to-face form and min. 50% in the combined form).
ISP students - credit is also awarded for creating your own knowledge base with documentation.
