The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course is focused on the economics of the public sector. Students will be able to orientate themselves in actual tendencies and challenges of the public sector in the Czech republic. At the end of this course students will have knowledge of general economics and will be able to understand the issue of public finances and other re socio-economic disciplines and explain the current status and issues of public and nonprofit sector as a whole and industry-specific as well as general management methods.

  • 1. Industries public sector organizations and public management, organizational units. 2. Financing of social security, benefits and their construction. 3. Pension systems and retirement account. 4. Financing of Health. 5. Financing of education, research and development. 6. Funding for defense, security and justice. 7. Financing agriculture and the environment. 8. Financing culture, churches. 9. Support the business sector. 10. Partnership between public and private sector. 11.Non-profit sector, the management of non-profit organizations. 12. Inspection and audit in the public sector.

Teaching methods
Lectures and exercises in full-time, controlled group consultations in combined form; minimum mandatory participation in exercises in full-time studies is 75%, the controlled group consultations in combined form 50%. "Lectures using power-point presentation. Students who fail to meet the compulsory rate of attendance may by assigned additional study obligations during the semester to an extent that will enable them to demonstrate the study results and aquired necessary for successful completion of the course.
Assessment methods
The course is successfully completed with the credit and exam. Credit consists of a written test that takes 60 minutes. The test includes 6 open questions, with a maximum of 10 points for each anwser. In order to pass the credit successfully, it is necessary to obtain at least 40 points. Then oral examination folows. If the student does not pass the exam, it is possible to do deeper oral examination in addition to written test next time.
