Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The objective of the course is the same for both forms of study. The student should acquire the ability to understand the meaning of the basic concepts of penal law, in particular the notion of crime, the object and the objective side of crime, the body and the subjective side of crime, the issue of complicity, participation or concurrence of offenses, as well as the principles of saving and types of penalties. He should be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the field of interpretation of simple penal cases. He should as well gain a basic orientation in criminal proceedings aimed at revealing committed crimes and their offenders.
Syllabus
  • Content of lectures: 1. The general interpretation of the concept and sources of criminal law, its basic principles, the scope of the Criminal Code. 2. The offense - concept, characteristics, crime continued, mass lasting. 3. The facts of the crime, bipartition crimes, insanity and culpability in criminal law. 4. Stages of crime, criminal forms of cooperation. 5. Mistake in criminal law and its importance, circumstances excluding illegality, criminality and punishment extinction. 6. Corporate criminal liability, criminal liability of minors. 7. The meaning and purpose of the punishment of offenders, the different types of sentences protective measures. General and individual prevention. 8. The principles of sentencing and punishment aggregate global mitigating and aggravating circumstances. 9. Methods sentencing safeguards expunged conviction. 10. Sentencing juvenile sanctioning legal persons. 11. Special Part of the Criminal Code - selected constituent elements of criminal acts and offenses. 12. The interpretation of certain terms of the Special Part of the Penal Code and under the interpretative provisions of the Criminal Code. Probation and Mediation Service.

Teaching methods
Full-time study consists of lectures and seminars, part-time study of tutorials; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
The course is completed, on the one hand by a credit, which is awarded in PS for a paper incl. presentation during the seminar in about 30 minutes, on the other hand by an oral exam at the end of the semester. Elaboration of the paper is awarded by 70%, its presentation during the seminar by 30%.
