Syllabus
  • The first part of the course acquaints students with a historical overview of the more general development of communication media, their roles and the cultural significance of the civilization process. It monitors the genesis of forms of communication in the environment of oral tribal cultures, as well as the cultural and social context of the origin and spread of writing and new forms of media in the form of plates, tables, silk or papyrus. It is followed by a reminder of the era of the press with the hitherto unsurpassed development of culture and education. This is followed by the description of the advent of electronic media, when radio and television broadcasting shaped new directions of communication with anonymous recipients, including the birth of effective methods of manipulation. The conclusion of the course belongs to the reflections on the relationship between digital technologies and the society of late modernity.
