- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- Student can after the course define main tools that are used in the regional development support. Student understand main developpment processes and problems in different EU and Czech region. Student can use basic analytic tools and methods to evaluate the development potential. Student will orientate himself in legislation and basic conceptual documents linked with regional development in EU as well as Czech republic.
- Learning outcomes
- Student can use basic analytic tools and methods to evaluate the development potential. Student can after the course define main tools that are used in the regional development support. The student will be able to solve tasks at the level of decision-making processes within the framework of regional policy of the Czech Republic and the European Union.
- Syllabus
- 1. Regional analysis – objectives and methods of territorial analysis. 2. Theoret approaches to the regional development. 3. Tools of the support of the regional development (macroeconomic tools, microeconomic tools, administrative tools). 4. Concept of the regional development support(regional politics, structural funds, the objectives of regional policy). 5. Regional policy of CR (basic documents, legislative).4 6. Institucional framework of the regional developpment support. 7. Actors of regional development. 8. Specifics of regional disparities in Czech Republic. 9. Regional competitiveness. 10. Regional policy in CR: experiences and tendencies. 11. New issues of regional development. 12. Regional policy after 2014.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
- Assessment methods
- The course is completed with a credit and verbal exam. A specific written study (50% points min) id part-time study and presentation in full time study is required to award the credit. Answer oral questions correctly is required to pass the exam.
