Cíle předmětu
Aims of the subject: The aim of the subject is to explain the basics of modern approaches, theories, trends and current models of HR management to students. On completion of this course, students should also be able to define these key concepts and theories: Human Capital Management, Competency-based Management, Knowledge Management and Corporate Social Responsibility. Students should also know about: globalization and competition trends and their shaping of HRM, implications for managers and HR specialists of organizational behaviour theory, contribution of HR to knowledge management, ethical dimension of HRM, career management life cycle and talent management systems, diversity management and specifics of HRM in multicultural companies and SME. Competencies: Ability to implement acquired information in real life situations.  Ability to search for, process and analyze information coming from different sources  Ability to make objective and just judgement.  Ability to support principles of social responsibility.
Výstupy z učení
On completing this module students will understand the connections to real business life. They will proceed step by step trough theory towards the application. After all lectures and seminars students will understand the difference and meaning of HRM and Strategic HRM, its framework, and alignment of SHRM to business strategy. Students will gain a detailed knowledge about: - the fundamental concept of HRM; - the goals of HRM; - the philosophy of HRM; - models of HRM; - the HRM architecture; - the ethical dimension of HRM; - HRM in SMEs - small amd medium sized enterprises representing back bone of each economy. Students will also understand and discuss key goals of strategic HRM as follows: - support the organization in achieving its overall activities by developing and implementing HR strategies that are fully integrated with the business strategy; - contribute to the development of a high-performance culture; - ensure that the organization has the talented, skilled and engaged employees they need; - create a positive employment relationship between management and employees and a climate of mutual trust; - encourage the application of an ethical approach to people management. Finally students will understand the role and organization of HR function, its role in 21st century and importance for the business.

Výukové metody
The course is delivered in 12 lectures (90 mins.) in full-time study and 4 tutorials (90 mins.) in part-time study. The course consists of lectures and seminars which require active participation of students at all stages of the teaching process. The course is comprised of case studies, completing and presenting projects, brainstorming and moderated group discussion.
Metody hodnocení
Compiling a semestral project with a suggested structure including a practical part of at 10 standard pages, its presentation and defence including answering tutor’s questions. Compiling a case study of cca 3 standard pages. Presentation and defence. Students will not be awarded credits if they fail to submit their semestral work on time. The subject is completed by exam. Grading will be based on an individual oral examination.

Ing. Helena Pleskotová is external teacher and practitioner in Business Management, Corporate Governance and Strategic Human Resource Management as she has been working in international corporations as HR Director and appointed as a member of Management Committee - Aventis Pharma, Kesa Electricals and Datart International. Mrs Pleskotová has been working on many HR projects mainly of European cluster.
