Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to build the foundation of knowledge in the field of management and balanced leadership from a relatively wide perspective so that the listener is well equipped for subsequent - already more specialized - subjects of the field of study.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course, the student will have the following professional knowledge. Will be able to:
define, know and understand the essence and meaning of management,
introduce the concept of management from the perspective of the science of management in its developmental stages,
explain and justify why management is necessary for all types of organizations,
explain why management requires a system approach, specify management functions / processes,
define the advantages and disadvantages of individual organizational structures, based on the variability of economic reality to define the reason for change management and approaches to change management,
explain the benefits of the CRM approach and philosophy,
explain the connection between the concept of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, the importance of compliance with ethics in the business environment,
explain the difference between process and project management,
explain the concept of innovation in connection with the competitiveness of the company, be able to describe specific corporate activities and activities within the Model of Innovation Management, the trend of lean business,
develop a Personal Development Plan to improve basic management skills.
For given topics, search for IT technologies and programs, applications, software, suitable for digitization of management. During the course the student will acquire the following professional skills. Will be able to:
work with information sources, analyze the obtained data and on their basis set goals for individual managerial activities,
develop a timeline of development stages of management,
look for examples of good practice, the benefits of successful managers for the development of organizations,
to design an effective organizational structure of a specific company,
search for 3 CRM software, define their advantage,
introduce the principles of CSR, design a project for the introduction of CSR at VŠFS,
specify the concept of Industry 4.0 and its impacts on individual business units,
perform a Self-Assessment of Managerial Skills - for example, the ability to delegate, to record in the personal development plan one area in which the student wants to improve. Develop a timeline of work on self-improvement, develop a plan for effective consultation.

Teaching methods
Lectures will usually contain a lecture part (theory, new knowledge including practical examples) and a practical part (case study). Part of the lecture may be completion of self-evaluation questionnaires, discussion on a given topic, group work, etc. Part of the assignment for home preparation for the following lessons. Exercises will be practically focused on gaining knowledge through their own judgments, based on economic and critical thinking focused on entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship, creativity, creativity, ability to present and communicate, active approach to the world, open access to new forms of management. Emphasis will be placed on non-exact thinking based on proven qualitative and quantitative data, on the ability to work with information, with trendy information and presentation systems. Management will be presented on a scientific basis as a sequence of interconnected projects and processes. The combined study will take the form of a guided consultation, where, in addition to the condensed presentation of the topic, previous self-study is also expected to allow for subsequent consultation.
Assessment methods
The course ends with a CREDIT and EXAM (5 credits).
Full-time study: The award of credit is tied to the fulfillment of the obligation of active attendance min. 75% (ie not only presence, but active participation in the course of teaching, discussion, interaction, argumentation), fulfillment of homework assignments.
CREDIT: Elaboration of credit work - assignment see IS (Evaluation of managerial functions, medallion of (family) company XY, proposals and recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the selected managerial function.
Method: • Look for a small and medium / family business.
• Evaluate through a personal interview the vitality of the management area according to the text. Incorporate the outputs into the text of the questionnaire.
• Propose steps for improvement in an area where some shortcomings have been identified.
Own design and recommendations for about 3 standard pages of a word document.
EXAMINATION - ORAL: relevant discussion of credit work, case studies solved during the course of teaching in connection with theoretical knowledge in the field of management.
The exam will be possible only after granting the credit, which will be written by the practicing teacher in the student's note pad.
Combined study: The award of credit is tied to the fulfillment of the obligation of active attendance in   min. 50% of guided consultations (but not just presence, but active participation in the course of teaching, discussion, interaction, argumentation).
Credit and exam see full-time form of teaching.
Students will not be accepted late attendance during the lessons, students will have the camera turned on during lessons in the online Microsoft Teams environment.
