Course objectives
The aim of the course is to build on the knowledge acquired in the course Business Management 1 and to acquaint students with the basic processes of management of other business departments. Students will primarily get acquainted with the role of business owners and managers, the creation of medium-term strategies and the nature of operational management processes in finance, investment decision-making, quality management, innovation, IS / IT, crisis management and restructuring. Special attention will be paid to the role of managers, their competencies and responsibilities in managing key business activities. The lectures will end with a list of prerequisites for the managerial work of the relevant section of the company.
Learning outcomes
Student should be theoretically prepared to manage the company after completing this course. During the course the emphasis is on the practical verification of the acquired knowledge in practice, especially in the following disciplines: • process management, • strategic management, • marketing management, • Business management, • Financial management, • Quality management, • Innovation management, • managing a business in a crisis and restructuring it, • management and development of human resources. The course emphasizes examples of a real business management environment, then students should be ready to take up management positions in a real environment.

  • 1. Financial management I. - Management of costs, revenues, EBITDA, EBIT, EBT, EAT, margins and their importance for business management, cash flow
  • 2. Financial management II. - asset management, liability management, balance sheet planning and corporate value management
  • 3. Investment decisions - investment triangle, business plan and turning point, DCF method, IRR, financial derivatives, capital markets, speculation
  • 4. Quality management - quality management goals, competitiveness and quality, approaches to quality management (QMS, TQM)
  • 5. Quality management - Deming - 14 quality points, selected methods of achieving quality and improvement (QM, EFQM, BSC, Six Sigma, LEAN,…)

Teaching methods
Teaching in the full-time form of study will take place on the basis of interactive lectures, in which the theory will be supplemented by practical examples, on the basis of which the student will get an idea of the actual role of business management for its successful development. The lectures will include discussions on the topic, group work, etc. It will also include assignments for home preparation for the next lesson. Teaching in combined study will take place in the form of guided consultation. It presupposes continuous preparation of students for guided group consultations, which will focus on practical applications with the aim of optimal use of knowledge from the subject in business practice. If contact teaching and consultation in the personal presence of the student in full-time and combined form of study will be impossible, teaching is replaced by distance form of study (online transmission via MS TEAMS) and self-study.
Assessment methods
Conditions for completing the course:
1. Complete compulsory attendance 75% full-time study, 50% part-time study and ISP students. In case of non-compliance, process a substitute seminar paper of at least 10 pages in the BP template. For this work, the student chooses a topic and has it approved by the teacher. The condition is to use at least 3 references from the ProQuest database available for free from IS.VSFS.
2. Prepare a seminar paper, the topic will be published during the course - this work will be evaluated max. 60 points. The teacher will determine the deadline for the elaboration of the seminar work. After this date, work that has been submitted late will be penalized by a deduction of 50% of the points 3. Successfully pass 3 continuous electronic tests, each with 15 points 4. After obtaining the credit for fulfilling points 1, 2, 3 (obtaining 65-105 points), pass the EXAM TEST. It is possible to pass the exam - orally or physically in writing according to the decision of the teacher (examiner). The exam will consist of 4 questions and each question will be evaluated with a maximum of 10 points. So a total of max. 40 points. In total, the student can get a maximum of 145 points Rating and grade scale: A 145-125 points, B 124-110 points, C 109-99 points, D 98-78 points, E 77-60 points, F less than 60 points.
