- Assumed knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping at the undergraduate accounting course, UC A1 and UC A2, knowledge of Czech accounting standards for businesses and orientation in the financial statements at the bachelor's course, Financial Analysis.

- Course objectives
- The course objective is to integrate and complete knowledge of double entry bookkeeping system and its specific form for the bussines, gained during previous study, and generalize it so as to provide a comprehensive look at the book wider view of economic processes, including its links to the appropriate management of economic processes and understanding of changes in accounting rules as a reflection of changes in the economic processes and their management needs.The further goal is to spread knowledge about the variability of national accounting systems and their classification, including the basic characteristics of the process of harmonization of accounting as a reflection of the growth in importance of accounting information in the process of globalization and integration of the Czech accounting system in this process, including the basic characteristics of US GAAP and IAS/IFRS.
- Syllabus
- Sylabus of the course: 1. Information and data in the management of economic processes, sources of economic information. Double-entry accounting system. General principles of double entry bookkeeping. The financial statements. Users of financial accounting.
- 2. Financial statements and its structure, explanatory power and limitations.Users of financial statements. Valuation and its problems.
- 3. Balance, the history of this financial statement, the development of the views on the function and structure of the balance, new trends in the reporting of financial situation.
- 4. One and double balance accounting system. Profit and its concepts. Cash flows in the double entry accounting system.
- 5. Accounting systems in the world, their characteristics and classification, the differences between them and their causes. The process of harmonization of accounting, its causes, stages and guidelines.
- 6. Characteristics of the IAS/IFRS, their genesis, Conceptual framework, comparison with U.S. GAAP. The basic differences from the Czech accounting.
