- Teaching methods
- Full-time study Lectures will generally consist of two parts:
theoretical – presentation of key knowledge and concepts of family business, including current scientific findings and practical examples from national and international practice;
practical – analysis of case studies (e.g., succession management, conflict situations, financing, sustainability strategies, and the use of renewable energy sources).
The course may also include: completion of self-assessment questionnaires and reflection, discussions on specific topics, group work, simulations and role-playing (e.g., conflict management or board decision-making), and assignments for home preparation for the following class.
Emphasis will be placed on precise and critical thinking based on verified qualitative and quantitative data, the ability to work with information, trend-based information and presentation systems, and the use of modern digital technologies and artificial intelligence tools (e.g., for data analysis, scenario modeling, project preparation).
Family business management will be presented on a scientific basis as a sequence of interconnected projects and processes.
Part-time study Teaching takes the form of guided consultations, which combine: condensed presentation of key topics, students’ prior self-study, subsequent consultation, exchange of opinions, and sharing of experiences on the given topic. - Assessment methods
- Form of completion: examination (5 ECTS).
Full-time study: Participation in the examination is conditional upon active attendance of at least 75 %. Attendance is assessed not only as physical presence, but primarily as active engagement in the class – discussions, interaction, argumentation, and presentation of ideas for home preparation.
Form of examination: oral. The student will present the results of a standardized questionnaire survey and a proposed “road map” for the implementation of one measure leading to the adoption of renewable energy in a family business. The examination also includes a presentation of project recommendations related to a specific family business and a subsequent professional discussion of the work.
Part-time study: Participation in the examination is conditional upon active attendance at a minimum of 50 % of guided consultations (again not only physical presence, but active involvement in discussions, interaction, and argumentation).
Form of examination: oral, in the same scope and format as in full-time study.
Examination papers must be uploaded by students into IS/Assignment Submission before the examination date. - Language of instruction
