- Cíle předmětu
- The objective of the course is to explain the phenomenon of lobbying, its key principles, techniques, and economic context.
- Výstupy z učení
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to understand the essence and techniques of lobbying, understand the economics of rent-seeking, distinguish between legal lobbying and corruption, apply the game theory, the logic of collective action, and the decision-making under risk in connection with lobbying.

- 1. What is lobbying (etymology, history, and the causes of lobbying)) 2. Public affairs management (lobbying project management, lobbying marketing, lobbyist’s profile) 3. Political and constitutional system (constitutional theory, legislative process in the Czech Republic, legislative process in the EU, elections and political parties) 4. Corruption (the corruption contract, corruption in criminal law, what is and what is not corruption) 5. Lobbying and ethics (perception of lobbying, the evolution of ethics, Pareto efficiency, negative, zero, and positive-sum games, law as an instrument of business competition) 6. Lobbying and the decision-making under risk (the expected revenue of a lobbying project, the risk management of a lobbying project, utility under risk) 7. Lobbying and the theory of collective action (the logic of collective action, rational ignorance) 8. Public choice theory (utility maximisation in politics, the equilibrium of a lobbyist, the minimum differentiation principle) 9. Rent-seeking I. - Výukové metody
- The 12-lecture cycle will take place in the full-time form of the lectures and will be supplemented by practical examples of lobbying and fundraising practice as well as discussions on specific topics. Interactive teaching methods will focus on gaining the ability of students to present and defend their opinion, insight, ability to argue. Combined form of study - 4 blocks of study requires continuous preparation of students for mass consultations, which will focus on practical applications in order to optimally use the knowledge of the given subject as well as personal life, leisure activities and business practice. The student acquires professional skills mainly through his / her own processing, case studies and preparation of partial presentations. Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is based on critical thinking focused on presentation, communication and argumentative ability, active approach to the world, open access to ethical discussions. Emphasis is placed not on accurate thinking based on verified qualitative and quantitative data, on the ability to work with information, with trend information and presentation systems. Lobbying and fundraising is a science-based framework of interconnected projects and processes in the public legal environment.
- Metody hodnocení
- The sudents receive credit upon successfully submitting their homework, active participation on lectures/seminars, and passing the final test.
Attendance: Attendance is required at least 75% of the lectures (to count for attendance students must actively participate, discuss, and interact) - Vyučovací jazyk
