Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain the following questions and problems: Causes of conflict, ways of dealing with conflict situations and methods to avoid these situations. The student will be able to analyse of the various aspects of conflicts between individuals, between groups and between political and economic actors. the student will be able to explan (on the basis of gained knowledges) as overt as well as covert signs of conflict. The student will identify the most common sources of conflict. The last but not the least point is that student will be able to create short-term as well as long-term strategies of conflict management and conflict situations, especially in everyday communication (but even in other situations).

  • 1. The rules of human communication 2. Main communication strategies and interpersonal relations as a frame 3. The conflict as a negative as well as a positive component of life 4. The cultural context of the conflict 5. The basic typology of conflict (intrapsychic, interpersonal, group and intergroup conflict etc.) 6. The role of the personality in the conflict, stress, interpersonal relations and reciprocal role incompatibility 7. Conflict in employment a their impact 8. Cultural, ethnic and international conflicts 9. The conflict and the cooperation; conflict modelling and possibilities of solutions 10. Coping with conflitcs, causes and impcts of ineffective coping with conflicts(inner tension, neurosis, psychosomatic illnesses etc.) 11. Strategies and tactics of conflicts solutions 12. The conflict prevention

Teaching methods
Teaching methods: a lecture, an exercise The subject extension: 1/1 lesson per week The extension of obligatory presence: Minimál obligatory presence at exercises in a daily attendance - 75%, in regulated group consultations in a combined study - 50%. In the case of non-fulfilment of study duties, there can be additional duties (to proove necessary results and knowledges).
Assessment methods
Methods of valuations: inclusion(2 credits) The requirements of the inclusion awarding - creation, presentation and vindication os seminary elaborate (4-5 pages), which will proove the ability of the application of gained knowledges how to solve conflict situations.
