Course objectives
Strategic business management will be seen as a complex management discipline. Strategic management is art, science and skill in formulation, complex decision making, and subsequent fulfillment of everything that will enable the enterprise to achieve the intended goals, including a sense of direction change. Objective of the course in terms of learning outcomes and competences The aim of the subject is to acquire the essence and relationships of the strategic management of the company in the context of the company management system, to clarify the basic functional relations between business management and strategic management, to explain the necessary necessity and benefits of strategic management of the enterprise, to explain importance and to apply strategic micro and macro- understand the links between key and functional business strategies, build a plan to implement and update a business strategy.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion, students should be able to:
- understand basic concepts (strategy, strategic analysis, PEST analysis, competitive advantage, strategy execution)
- use different methods and procedures for strategic analysis,
- understand the process of creating a strategy - formulate a business strategy

Teaching methods
The lessons will have a lecturing part (theory, new knowledge including practical examples) and a practical part. That will be focused either on reading economical/business articles and their brief interpretation to ensure understanding the expert text, it’s interpretation and possibly to defend the standpoint, or part of the lessons may be also designed as a preparation of the team presentation project, and then on presentation of teams. Teaching in part-time study form will be held as guided consultations, where the previous reading is expected. A truncated presentation of the topic will be followed by the interactive discussion and consultation of the studied topics. In both full and part-time study forms each topic will be mostly presented (in detailed or condensed form – according to the type of study) in PPT presentations, followed by an interactive discussion.
Assessment methods
exam written, oral Compulsory student participation in exercises, or. public consultation - min. 75% in full-time study and min. 50% in the combined form of study.
Credit - active professional work in seminars, attendance, report, according to a subproject agreement and entering teacher.
Examination - written test (20 core topics,to pass the examination student must achieve at least 50% correct answers).
Completion conditions for ISP students are following: 1. to pass an exam test under the above mentioned conditions 2. to write a seminar work - a case study concerning the business strategy of the selected business (15 pages)
